What does your check engine light tell you? 

The check engine light lets you know when an emisson control component has failed.

For the most part this doesnt mean the vehicle is going to quite running.

You should always take vehicle in to a qualified shop to have the codes read to be sure what has failed this will let you know what is going on with your vehicle and how severe the problem is.

!!!!!  If the check engine light is on and flashing you should shut the vehicle off as soon as you can dont drive the vehicle. This can cause catalytic convertors to fail and they can be very expensive to replace. But by all means be aware of your surroundings if its not a safe area keep driving until you feel safe !!!!!
